We work in a beautiful part of Britain. We’d like it to stay that way.
We are very mindful of the need to protect the environment. The print industry has advanced a long way since the days of hot-metal printing, and our primary raw materials – ink and paper – predominantly now are environmentally sound. At Pagefast we eliminated the worst remaining source of pollution in 2005, installing a chemistry-free digital platesetter. Ours was only the second of its type to be installed in the Cumbria / North Lancashire region. We have since replaced this machine with a model that is the second to be installed nationwide.
We only use paper from companies that comply with ISO 14001 and have Eco-Management and Audit Scheme registration, specifying pulp sourcing from managed, sustainable forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Most has Nordic Swan accreditation or European standards approval, and it is all guaranteed Totally Chlorine Free (TCF). The inks we use are all vegetable-based, unless customer specifications require otherwise.
We actively seek to minimize waste. Where we do generate waste, it is properly separated and turned over for disposal exclusively to companies registered with the Environment Agency.
